Vehicle crashes into Brossard business, next to daycare; no child injured

By News Staff

Longueuil police (SPAL) say a senior accidentally drove her vehicle into a Brossard business, located right next to a daycare.

No child was injured, but as a precautionary measure, the daycare evacuated the children.

Two women were taken to hospital: the driver, a woman in her 80s, and a customer of the Lily Vögue women’s boutique, also in her 80s. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities explain that it happened around 1:40 p.m. at a plaza on Grande-Allée Blvd., not far from Hubert-Guertin Street.

The impact caused damage to the building, including a parting wall in the Garderie Bricole-Age.

A photo posted by police to social media shows the vehicle logged in the store, having crashed through the front glass windows and having broken through a wall of the daycare.

“A structural evaluation will be carried out to ensure the safety of the site,” add authorities.
